About the Mission:
The family of United States Air Force Veteran Roy "Hippie" Gorton has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. Roy, 81, of Hudson Falls, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026, after a short illness.
Born January 13, 1945, in Brooklyn NY, Roy was a 1963 graduate of Hudson Falls High School. He enlisted in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, on 12 December 1963, was trained as a Weather Observer (AFSC 25251) and was assigned to the 26th Weather Squadron, Military Airlift Command (MAC). Of his 4 years on active duty, he spent 2 years and 8 and 1/2 months overseas.
Roy worked at many restaurants during his culinary career. He retired with the closure of his restaurant, Roy’s, in the Chase Bag building in South Glens Falls.

Members will stand a flag line for the arrival of family and guests. If it's cold outside, please feel free to stand inside. Roy was another long-time friend. After services we will escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for a 1:30 pm service.
