About the Mission:
The family of William A. “Sonny” Turner has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. Sonny, 88, passed on February 14, 2026, in Scotia, NY.
Born in Montgomery, Alabama, on May 28, 1937, Sonny’s family later moved to Troy, NY where he attended Troy High School. He left school to join the U.S. Marine Corps on 30 July 1956, and was trained as a Rifleman (Specialty 0311). He was assigned to the Military Police Company, Headquarters Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina where he served until his honorable discharge at the rank of Private First Class on 29 July 1958. He completed his inactive reserve duty obligation on 29 July 1962.
Sonny came home in 1956 to work at Republic Steel and the Ford Motor Company, while earning his GED and an Associate's Degree from Maria College.

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the last hour of Visitation. A funeral service, military honors, PGR final salute and plaque presentation will follow. Interment will take place at a later date.
