About the Mission:

This veteran served honorably from October 1960 to October 1964 aboard the USS Essex (CV-9),lead ship of Essex-Class Aircraft Carriers. The ship deployed during the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1962. He attained the rank of Able Seaman prior to his separation from service.

After his military service, Mr. Nightingale was employed by Grumman Aerospace, and later became a Suffolk County Corrections Officer where he retired from.
